Taking part means joining the membership. That's what keeps it running, keeps it safe, and keeps the letters flowing, and it gives you the clubs, events and app too. There's no separate or free sign-up.
Alongside the member pen-pals, we run a larger Letterbox Project for aged care homes, schools and workplaces, thousands of handwritten letters sent to people who needed to hear from someone that they were thought of. If your home, school or workplace would like to be part of it, get in touch.
Yes, originally it was, and tens of thousands of people joined. In 2022, to improve security and make the project sustainable, the Letterbox was brought into our membership community. We gave everyone a five-month grace period, and then anyone who wanted to keep taking part was invited to subscribe. Those who did began their subscriptions and agreed to these terms; those who didn't simply stopped participating. The cost of stamps, postage and running it safely was never something we could keep offering for free.
